After the open air approach of the first 'Coral * Star' the second was arranged with more covered cabin space. As with no. 1 she was based on an Admiralty hull being 45 feet in length. She was in service for around 12 years from around 1961 to 1973.

As a sea boat operating around Torbay and coastline to the River Dart she was not a comfortable choice. It became apparent quite early that her length and beam reflected the sea conditions badly. The length seemed the same as the sea wavelengths and with quite a superstructure she rolled well! But she did work well despite this and was a good earner.

This was the first of the boats to have a small bar on board! In fine (hot) weather a hatch could be opened in the wheelhouse roof - standing on a stool steerage was with the appropriate foot. Not quite today's power assisted remote steerage system.

During her operational period two big events occurred in Torbay namely the start of the Tall Ships race in 1962 and the Fleet Review of 1969. Both of these events resulted in high levels of activity in Torbay.

During the mid to late 60's this boat was used by Decca for trials associated with the development of the 'Decca Navigator' system. The trials were largely about accuracy of plot and track using the varied coastline around Torbay.

One of the most significant events was a growing relationship with Swedish International Schools (SIS) who provided many groups of students and improved turnover considerably. This among several other ideas led to the introduction of CSIII.
